Jennifer & Justin Lerma's Tonga Missions Trip Dear Family & Friends,
As members of Cornerstone Church in Fresno, Justin and I have experienced many new opportunities within the last few years. Throughout the course of our membership, we have been blessed to not only be apart of their softball team, but we have also just begun our journey as teachers in the Heirforce (5th-6th grade) Sunday school class. This year we have created many new friendships and connections and through that, we were recently given the opportunity to accompany Loto Ministries on a trip to Tonga. Tonga is an island that is located in the South Pacific Islands and has been categorized as a third world country. Healthcare assistance is very poor in Tonga and many residents do not have access to clean water. Nearly 4% of the people live on less than $1.00 per day, 6.7 % live below the food poverty level, and 23% live on less than $15.00 per week. In this country, it is often a struggle to simply meet the basic daily needs. Access to a quality educational system does not come easily in Tonga. This leaves many of the Tongan people either poorly educated or not educated at all. Loto Ministries has previously traveled to Alaska, Samoa, and many other local cities here in California. Our heart and goal for this mission is to share the Word of God and the love of Christ with the people of Tonga. We plan to do this through drama, skits, worship, and sermons. We will be hosting various outreaches and we hope to minister to a juvenile detention facility there as well. The dates for our trip are July 27th, 2010 through August 10th, 2010. The cost for each person is $1,450.00 which only includes our flight and accommodations. Justin and I have both come from a past that only God could have redeemed and our passion is to take that testimony into all the world to share it with others. We know that God has not placed this opportunity before us to simply tease us with it or to cause us a burden. We believe He has a Devine calling upon our lives and we know that He will provide the finances for us to go.
